Washing Machines

Make sure ahead of time that you have a grounded 120-volt laundry receptacle. Some areas may require that the washer and dryer be on separate circuits.

Clamp the drain hose onto the outlet at the bottom of the machine and insert the J-bend into the standpipe. Connect the water hoses onto the washer inlets and onto the hose bibbs. Both hoses should have a filtering screen that can be cleaned periodically.

Dryers

Gas Dryer:Dryers also operate off of a grounded 120-volt receptacle. Use a flexible gas line at least 36 inches long. Use pipe-joint compound when you attach the line to the gas cock and the dryer, and use two wrenches to tighten the nuts. Attach a 4-inch duct hose to the vent.

Electric Dryer:An electric dryer requires a 240-volt receptacle. Turn the circuit breaker off before plugging the dryer in. Follow the diagram provided by the manufacturer and attach the power cord to the terminals at the back of the dryer. Attach the wires of the cord to the terminals in the dryer, and tighten the screw on the clamp that holds it in place. Using flexible vent tubing, connect the vent outlet to the wall duct.
